Where to Bike Cycling Guidebooks is releasing its newest book, Where to Bike Philadelphia, at a launch party on Thursday in Manayunk.

Cadence Cycling and Multisport Centers, 4323 Main St., will host the event  from 6 to 8 p.m.  in celebration of the guide, only the third to be released about an American city. Philadelphia follows Chicago and San Francisco.

Brady Gibney, Cadence Cycling employee and organizer of the event, said he believes the guidebook will be great for both cyclists who are just beginning to explore the trails of Philadelphia and those looking to find new trails to ride.

“There was never really a good source, with the exception of a couple websites, to suggest to people that would come into the store. This book is nice because we can give it to people and say here’s everything you need to know,” Gibney said.

“Where to Bike Philadelphia” features the best trails in the area including those with lighter traffic even the most experienced cyclist may not be aware of.

“There are definitely some gems that you can find in this city including quite a few the start and stop in Manayunk,” Gibney said.

The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a bike ride from Boathouse Row headed by author and University of Pennsylvania graduate Julie Lorch. The ride will end at Cadence Cycling at 6 p.m. where the launch party will begin with refreshments and presentations about the guidebook.
